Acting Judge Mohammad Ibrahim Mia of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court issued the order following an appeal from Md Abu Sayed, a deputy director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the case’s investigation officer.

The ACC officer said in the petition that these accounts, spread across branches of First Security Islami Bank PLC, were found to contain significant sums of money under inquiry.

The funds were flagged as being unusual and potentially suspicious, according to information uncovered during an investigation into claims of laundering $1 billion to locations such as Singapore, the British Virgin Islands, and Cyprus.

It is primarily proved that Saiful Alam and his family members deposited the money in these accounts to conceal their illegally earned wealth, he said.

During the investigation, it was also found that there is a possibility of withdrawing these funds at any time for laundering those abroad, according to the statement of the petition.

In this context, all these 125 bank accounts containing Tk 22.65 crore should be stopped for the sake of a transparent investigation, said the ACC office.
